Lightning Roulette: How the Multipliers Work
Lightning strikes up to five numbers every round with multipliers from 50x to 500x. The catch: regular straight-up wins pay a little less. Here is the trade-off.
Lightning Roulette by Evolution is European roulette — one zero, numbers 1 to 36 — with a twist that turned it into one of the most played live games.
The lightning round
After betting closes, lightning strikes one to five "lucky numbers", and each gets a random multiplier between 50x and 500x. If the ball lands on a lucky number, every straight-up bet on that number is paid at the multiplied rate.
The trade-off
To fund the multipliers, a normal straight-up win pays 29:1 instead of roulette's usual 35:1. Outside bets — red/black, odd/even, dozens and columns — pay exactly as in standard roulette and are never multiplied.
| Bet | European roulette | Lightning Roulette |
|---|---|---|
| Straight-up, regular number | 35:1 | 29:1 |
| Straight-up, lucky number | 35:1 | 50x – 500x |
| Red / black, odd / even | 1:1 | 1:1 |
Is it a better deal?
Overall, the game's theoretical return is close to standard European roulette — figures around 97% are commonly quoted. Lightning Roulette simply moves value from regular straight-up wins into rare, large multiplier wins. If you mostly bet on red or black, it plays almost exactly like the classic game.
